Changes in Career Central for 2012

I recently wrote about how to leverage failure to build your personal brand in your career. In 2011 I attempted to launch Career Central in a format that didn’t meet with the success I had hoped.

The reason I launched Career Central is because I have a passion for helping professionals improve their job search or their current career status through personal branding and digital strategies.

The model I launched offered free content, comprised of my weekly blog posts and monthly premium content comprised of videos and other long form premium content.

The reality that set in for me is that running Find and Convert is more than a full time job. Therefore, producing the monthly premium content was more than I could handle. Additionally, launching a new business initiative requires time and energy to build awareness and community. And, I simply wasn’t able to give Career Central the time it needed to take off.

Career Central in 2012

In 2012 Career Central will live on as free content through this blog and my weekly newsletter. I will invite guest bloggers to contribute content. I will remain focused on delivering content that guides and inspires career improvement through personal branding and digital strategies.

I welcome your input, suggestions and ideas for Career Central. But, please remember that my focus is digital. There are plenty of people writing about resume writing and interviewing skills. My focus is helping today’s professional harness their personal brand through digital strategies.

I’m willing to review books, other blogs and resources that meet my stated goal. If you have suggestions for me to cover, either leave them in the comments below or email me at bernie at bernieborges.com.

If you had any failures in 2011 (and if you’re honest, you probably did), take away the valuable lesson there is in that failure and act on it. I’m proud of the attempt I made at Career Central in 2011. And, I am very enthusiastic about my direction for Career Central in 2012.

I look forward to this journey. I hope you’ll come along for the ride in the new Career Central of 2012.
